Josh Randall was arrested on drug charges in New York. Anyone who knows Josh can tell you that he is the least likely person to get mixed up in drugs. Hopefully, when the truth comes out, the arresting officers come clean (yeah, fat chance of that happening), and his name is cleared, the national press will spend as much time covering that as they did his arrest!

Phil, I was in the SouthBay yesterday and decided to make the effort to get down to the TowneTheater for the 7pm showing of Party Crashers. Did you really shoot that on DV? Jennifer Jason Leigh was great and Gwyneth Paltrow looked hot! Oh wait, that was theater 3. That's right, we were in theater 1. Well I did enjoy the movie. Besides your own performance, I really enjoyed the performance of Robin Nance. Robin has star quality, and says so much with so few words. Her eyes, body language, and facial expressions are dead on. Christopher Jacobs also has a good presence. Overall, I really liked your casting. The one technical thing I'd like to see improved upon in your next film would be the sound although I understand that that is one of the most difficult aspects when working with a small budget. The film did look good, particularly in the very last scene on Mullholland. I read in the production notes about how the sound for that scene was overdubbed during post. I didn't even notice while watching the film, maybe because I was overwhelmed by the richness and saturation of the film there. Cheers to you Phil for getting out there and making it happen. You're an odd fellow, but I think that one of these days you're going to get even.
-Take care, PatrickM.
PS: What was up with the honey on the kitchen table? And the bananas in the cops scene?
Patrick,
In my opinion, Robin Nance should be a star. I would love to work with her again. And I agree that the production sound was a weakness. It was good for the budget with which we had to work, but it did not live up to the look of the film. That just goes to show what I've always said, "Sound RUINED movies!" As for the honey on the kitchen table and the bananas in the cops scene, it will all be explained in the sequel.

From: "Scot L. Spicer" slspicer@glendale.cc.ca.us Subject: The Movie
Party Crashers is one of the best films I've seen in the past three years -- good characters and original story line. And it has a great soundtrack! When do you think it will come to Los Angeles?
-Best wishes! Scot Spicer Los Angeles
Dear Scot,
Los Angeles is certainly on our radar, and hopefully, we'll see a SoCal launch before the end of the year. In the meantime, tell anyone you know in the S.F. bay area to see the film starting July 20!

From: mike@misosoup.com. Subject: Saw your film in San Jose yesterday...
I saw "The Party Crashers" yesterday in San Jose (Camera Cinema Club) and enjoyed it. If it does ever get a short run in theaters around here I'll certainly recommend it to friends. The IMDb listing for the film doesn't have a link to your web site and gives a date of 1999, whereas I thought the copyright I saw was 1997. You can ask them to fix that, although the one time I submitted changes to them it took a lot longer than I expected (a couple of weeks or so). And if you ever release it on DVD, count on me to buy a copy.
- Mike Weston
Dear Mike,
The actual copyright date is 1998, splitting the difference between the two dates you've seen. On the other hand, nobody likes a film geek, Mike! No, no, it's only a joke. Glad that you enjoyed the film enough to recommend it to your friends. They can see it starting July 13 at the Towne 3 theatre in San Jose. As for the IMDB link, I'm sure our webmaster will look into it (right, Pedro?). The DVD release is probably a ways off, but stay tuned!
